"Carnatic Music with Varsha" is our unique interactive online class that enables you to learn the intricacies of vocal carnatic music by interacting with the teacher in a fun and an exciting way. The following would be the learning outcomes of this month:
About the Session
Carnatic music is a system of music commonly associated with southern India, including the modern Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, as well as Sri Lanka.
Carnatic music is usually performed by a small ensemble of musicians, consisting of a principal performer (usually a vocalist), a melodic accompaniment (usually a violin), a rhythm accompaniment (usually a of mridangam), and a tambura, which acts as a drone throughout the performance.
" You could watch tons of videos online. But, it is almost impossible to develop a performing art skill without the help of an actual teacher"
This Monthly Learning plan consists of a total of 8 hours of learning extending onto assignments and training modules to solidify your child's understanding and skills. 8 classes of 1 hours sessions spread over 4 weekends. This is designed to give you ample time to practice your assignments and the techniques for a week moving onto the next week’s agenda.
The session has been planned in such a way that people with no background in music would also enjoy the session and progress along.
About the Mentor
Varsha R Mallya, is certified in Carnatic Music from the university of Madras. During her college days she was a part of both western and Carnatic college teams performing at various colleges like IIT-M, NIT and many others. As on date she holds 3 years of experience in teaching music and also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Adyar Cancer Institute for music therapy sessions for the patients. Now she is venturing into western music by learning guitar. She is dedicated towards music and plans to become a music composer in the near future.
Varsha’s Journey has been very inspiring, for her all this started from her first music class when she was in kindergarten. She wanted to leave music and pursue dance but music never left her until today.
